In late March and early April winter starts to release it's icy grip, although it is not unusual for winter to grab everyone's attention right up until late April. Early spring can also be known as "mud season". As cool days warm; the maple sap begins to run the sugaring season begins. By late May the forests and woodlands are alive with the tapestry of plant and animal life that makes Vermont a unique natural wonder.
